Revolution Financial Management runs a small office on Lincoln Avenue, and its Ogden team has started something they're calling "our gift to the Ogden community": a free financial literacy class, every Thursday night. Local rep Cody Manning hosts, and the door is open to anyone — no cost, no registration required.

Why they're worth knowing. Money classes usually come with a catch. This one is built around not having one: the sessions are purely educational, and the organizers say plainly on their flyer that no products are sold in the room. A typical night covers the practical stuff — budgeting, paying down debt, building savings and wealth, how life insurance works — in plain language, "regardless of income, background, or where you're starting from."

The Perseid meteor shower — the summer's best — peaks tomorrow night into early Wednesday, and 2026 is a strong year: up to 100 shooting stars an hour after midnight. Find a spot away from city lights, put the phone away, and give your eyes about 20 minutes to adjust. It runs late, but even an hour of watching is worth it.

🔭 Prefer company and a telescope? Willard Bay State Park hosts a free, ranger-led star party Friday, Aug 14 (South Marina, sunset–11 p.m.). Rangers and the Willard Eccles Observatory bring the telescopes; you bring chairs, blankets, snacks, and bug spray. Free with park entry or a Utah State Parks pass — and with the midweek clouds clearing, Friday may be the better night to look up.

Today: hot and hazy, near 93°, mostly cloudy. An air-quality (ozone) advisory is up today and tomorrow — sensitive lungs, take it easy.

The trend: a real break arrives midweek — down to the mid-60s/upper-60s Wednesday and Thursday (~68° with a chance of showers) — then back to the mid-80s for the weekend.

Plan around it: those midweek clouds could dim tomorrow's Perseid peak, so Friday's clearer skies may be the better bet for the Willard Bay star party — check the forecast before you load the car.
