If you buy your peaches at the grocery store, this is the week to break the habit. Utah's Wasatch Front orchards are at their peak, and for a few short weeks the peaches, plums, and first apples off local trees are about as good as produce gets anywhere.

The place to catch it: the Ogden Farmers Market on Historic 25th this Saturday (8 a.m.–1 p.m.) — growers from the orchard country just north of here bring in what they picked that morning. Cheaper than the supermarket, fresher by days, and the money stays with the family that grew it.
